The idea is simple–choose 101 things you would like to finish in 1001 days, or just shy of three years. The longer time frame is great because it gives you a couple of shots at completing seasonal items and a chance to put more ambitious stuff like travel on the list. Every goal should be a stretch yet doable and have a measurable result. “Get skinny” is bad, “lose 20 pounds” is good.
I first formed my list in late April, 2008. Some things have changed since then–new country, some new goals. Items I’ve decided against are crossed out and their replacements are numbered from 102 on. I only take an item off once I’ve found a replacement to keep my 101 chi (ki?) in order.
